A proud Miami University hockey alum, Rick was a remarkable player whose skill, tenacity, and leadership helped the club achieve early success. Later, he was inducted into the Miami Hockey Hall of Fame in honor of his enduring impact on the program. He created lasting relationships, shaped a culture, and laid the groundwork for upcoming RedHawk generations, thus his influence extended far beyond the statistics.
Rick's passion for the game allowed him to work hard and persevere in order to achieve his goal of donning a Boston Bruins jersey. Despite his brief stint as a professional player, he always had a connection to the game. In addition to his beloved son Sean Kuraly, who is currently an NHL player and followed in his father's footsteps, he remained a lifelong hockey ambassador, constantly inspiring the next generation.
Those who knew Rick will remember him for more than his sporting achievements. A loyal spouse, a trustworthy friend, and a proud father, he was a man of unwavering loyalty and quiet strength. Whether it was offering guidance in the locker room, cheering from the stands, or sharing a good laugh with loved ones, Rick had a knack of making everyone around him feel valued and encouraged.
