Henrico resident Hunter Davis, 27, lost his life in a deadly collision on Interstate 295 in Hanover, Virginia, on Tuesday evening.
The Virginia State Police (VSP) reported that troopers were summoned to a single-vehicle incident in the southbound lanes at Exit 38 at Pole Green Road at 6:30 p.m. According to authorities, Davis was driving a 2011 white Ford F-250 when it ran off the road, collided with another car, and caught fire. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle had been fired upon by an unnamed assailant prior to the collision.
Emergency workers at the site pronounced Davis dead. Traffic was diverted to Route 301 via Exit 41 while detectives searched the area. After being closed for many hours, the route reopened on Wednesday around 4:30 a.m.
