Cause of Death and New York Obituary for Frank and Maureen Olton, Queens

Frank and Maureen Olton's New York obituary; Bellerose, Queens, as the cause of death According to the NYPD, 42-year-old Jamel McGriff is the culprit in what Commissioner Jessica Tisch has described as a "horrific double homicide, robbery, and arson" that killed an elderly couple in Queens earlier this week.

Frank Olton, 76, and his wife, Maureen, 77, were discovered dead inside their burning apartment when FDNY firefighters came on Monday to put out the fire. Unfortunately, what began as a normal house fire has evolved into a horrifying criminal investigation.

CCTV footage discovered at the incident, according to authorities, shows Frank Olton voluntarily admitting McGriff inside the property. McGriff spent five hours or so indoors. Minutes after his departure, fire alarms went off, and the FDNY arrived.

After getting an emergency alert through the family's home security system, the fire was reported by the couple's son, an EMT on active duty. Responders determined that the fire had been intentionally ignited after discovering both victims deceased.

The event started as a targeted robbery, authorities said, and progressed to double murder and burning, which was allegedly done to destroy evidence.

Currently wanted on two counts of robbery, arson, and murder, McGriff is considered dangerous and armed. He is believed to have immediately fled the scene of the crime due to his criminal history.

Commissioner Tisch emphasized the seriousness and urgency of the matter during a news briefing on Tuesday night: In their own home, two innocent people were the victims of a deliberate, callous act of violence. We are using every available tool to find and bring charges against Jamel McGriff.

The NYPD is requesting that anybody with knowledge on McGriff's whereabouts or the case call 911 immediately or use Crime Stoppers to submit anonymous tips by calling 1-800-577-TIPS. Surveillance images are expected to be released soon to aid in his identification.

The ongoing manhunt is involving multiple law enforcement organizations, and a citywide alert is now in place.

The village is in grief as neighbors remember Frank and Maureen Olton as kind, gregarious people who had resided in Bellerose for many years.

The investigation into this issue is currently under progress. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available.

If you see Jamel McGriff or know where he is, stay away from approaching him. Press 911 immediately.
