Announcement of Amanda's Death Julia Carter: Following the discovery of the mother of three dead, Fountain Police are investigating a murder-suicide.
Following a horrific incident that left the community in despair, Fountain police discovered two persons dead inside a residence Thursday morning.
The Fountain Police Department (FPD) was notified of a disturbance in the 1500 block of Bonita Drive at around 11:06 a.m. When police arrived, they found the bodies of a 32-year-old woman and her ex-husband; the crime is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Authorities named the victim as Amanda Julia "AJ" Carter, a beloved mother of three. According to investigators, she was shot and killed by her ex-husband, who was also the father of her children, before he turned the pistol on himself.
Carter's three children, Aspen, Hudson, and Kora, ages three, seven months, and thirteen, were reportedly inside the house at the time of the incident. They were later placed under the protection of family relatives.
Her grandmother, Brigitte Juroska, admitted that the children were there when the disaster struck and expressed grave concerns about their future.
Her kids were three, seven months, and thirteen years old. Who is going to take care of those poor kids now?"Juroska said.""
She also said that the family had previously suffered abuse at the hands of the suspect, who was living in the residence that was being investigated.
Neighbors reported seeing a large police presence at the same house around two months earlier, which might be a hint of ongoing domestic issues. In the wake of the murder, many residents of Fountain and Colorado Springs are banding together to support the surviving children and their extended family.
Amanda Carter was born on August 24, 1992, in Baltimore, Maryland, and died on September 25, 2025. Although her life was tragically cut short, her family and friends recalled her as a devoted friend and a caring mother.
According to the Fountain Police Department, the investigation is currently ongoing with help from the El Paso County Coroner's Office. Authorities have not yet released the suspect's name.
Anyone with more information is encouraged to contact FPD or local domestic abuse assistance organizations.
